Terms of use
Effective date: [FOUNDER: effective date]
1. Who we are
Kinwyn is provided by [FOUNDER: legal entity name], [FOUNDER: postal address]. You can reach us at [FOUNDER: support contact email]. By using Kinwyn you agree to these terms.
2. What Kinwyn does
Kinwyn is a tool for limiting your own use of apps you choose. Opening a blocked app spends minutes from a wallet. You earn minutes by completing goals that your phone checks. When the wallet is empty, blocked apps stay locked.
- Minutes and Virtue have no cash value. They cannot be bought, sold or transferred, apart from gifts a key holder gives inside the app.
- Earned minutes expire. Daily caps, night pricing and borrowing follow the rules shown in the app.
- Kinwyn is not a medical or mental-health service and does not give health advice. Exercise goals are optional; do them only if they are safe for you.
3. Things Kinwyn never blocks
Kinwyn does not block phone calls, messages, emergency apps, maps and navigation, banking and payment apps you mark as essential, your phone’s Settings, or Kinwyn itself. Do not rely on Kinwyn in an emergency, and do not rely on it as the only safeguard for a child.
4. Your account
- You sign in with your email address and a one-time code we send you. Keep access to that email secure.
- Give a display name you are happy for your circle to see.
- You must be at least [FOUNDER: minimum age] to create your own account. A kid’s profile is created by a parent.
5. Key holders and the 7-day cool-down
- Making your rules harder takes effect at once.
- Making your rules easier waits 7 days, unless your key holder approves it sooner. Your key holder can also reject it.
- Being key-held is your choice as an adult. You can remove or switch your key holder at any time; that takes 7 days and your key holder cannot stop it.
- A key holder can approve or deny emergency unlocks and can gift minutes, up to a daily limit.
- A key holder without the app gets a personal web link. Anyone who has that link can act as the key holder, so share it only with the person you mean.
- If app locking is turned off on your phone, your key holder is told.
6. Circles and family
- A circle has up to 5 people. Members see each other’s display names, minutes and streaks.
- Parents are key holders for their kids’ profiles.
- Be kind. Do not use nudges, promises or names to harass anyone.
7. Promises
A promise is an arrangement between two users. The reward is written by the users and is owed by the person who promised it, not by Kinwyn. We do not check, guarantee or deliver rewards.
8. Invites
If someone installs Kinwyn with your invite code on a device that never had Kinwyn, you may receive bonus minutes and Virtue as shown in the app. There is a lifetime limit on invite rewards. We may withhold rewards where a code is abused.
9. Plans and payment
[FOUNDER: confirm plans, trial and pricing wording]
- Kinwyn has three plans: Free, Solo and Circle. What each includes is shown in the app.
- Prices vary by country and are shown in the store before you buy.
- New users get a 1-month free trial of Circle. When it ends you move to Free unless you subscribe.
- With Circle, the circle’s owner pays and every member is covered.
- Purchases, renewals, cancellations and refunds are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play under their terms. You manage or cancel a subscription in your store account.
10. Fair use
- Do not try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service, or get around its limits for other people.
- Do not create accounts or installs to farm invite rewards.
- Do not use Kinwyn to control another adult without their agreement.
11. Your data
Our privacy policy explains what stays on your phone, what our server holds and who can see it. You can export your data and delete your account in the app’s settings.
12. Ending your use
You can stop using Kinwyn and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.
13. Availability and changes
Blocking and goal checking depend on permissions and features of your phone’s operating system, which can change. We work to keep Kinwyn reliable but cannot promise it will always work without interruption. We may change the app or these terms; when the terms change we will update this page and its effective date.
14. Liability
